Most of the deliveries in urban areas are frequentl and are usually small deliveries of merchandise. It usually is very inefficient to deliver goods in this manner using trucks as you would end up having many trucks frequently running up and back from the delivery point with partial loads. The French company La Petite Reine has come up with a greener alternative to the delivery business by using small truck sized cargo bikes instead. The company hires out from its fleet of 60 Cargocycles for businesses that need to make small to medium sized deliveries over short distances. Each Cargocycle can transport about 180 kg of goods in its 1400-liter cargo space. The small footprint of these cargo cycles also allow them to travel on bus and bike lanes and allow them to park easily too. Cargocycle deliveries end up delivering their goods much faster and at a good 10 to 20 percent less expense. But after all the savings which we get when we save nature are much more.
