Armed with a military grade GPS, this BMW learns the course driven by a human driver and then is able to recreate the lap exactly as it was driven before.  This video from the UK television show Top Gear shows exactly how its done and what an awesome/scary ride it is.

Now 2 make whole car self drive (minus driver). Next challenge. Nice though. Now try NYC streets & LA CA traffic alone with this setup. Now thats a Test.
