It’s finally here: after promises made a long time ago by a fairy princess, tours of the lands known as Walt Disney World are available in 3D using Google Earth. With gas prices the way they are, pile your kids into one chair, and launch Google Earth, search for Walt Disney World and start singing “It’s a Small World After All.” As you might expect from the leader in family entertainment and the leader in mapping, Walt Disney World 3D is supercalifragilisticexpeialidocious.
Taking the virtual map concept one step, no, make that a giant leap further, Disney and Google Earth have teamed up to create a new “mega map” that will allow you to explore Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and 22 Disney hotels and resorts.
Mickey Mouse is going night clubbing. To build on Disney World as an adult destination, Disney will launch the Night Kingdom in October 2011. It’s a niche park because it’s only open from 4 pm to midnight and only 2000 people will be allowed.
Either Disney “imagineers” were high when they wrote up their predictions, or technology just hasn’t kept up.
Skid marks aside, the way to tell if a movie will be a trend setter is to watch the merchandising.
