Back to school isn’t about having the coolest accessories, the perfect hair cut, and if Jimmy or Suzy is going to notice that you got better looking, or bigger boobs over the summer! No thanks to the ever growing number of school shootings the concerns on people’s minds or at least the parents is if their kid is going to get shot on their way to gym class! One new product out this fall for schoolchildren is a backpack with a bulletproof lining. The backpacks are being marketed by a US company MJ Safety Solutions, a company founded by Mike Pelonzi and Joe Curran of Massachusetts. The company offers 2 sizes one for books and the other for laptops. Both have a metal plate sewn into the back, guaranteed to stop bullets, although the metal is very lightweight weighing no more than a 12 oz bottle.The MJ Solutions Web site says that there have been 328 school shootings in the US since 1999 with 229 dead and 422 injuries. The manufacturers claim the backpacks will also protect against other weapons like knives.
