Very interesting campaign. Here's the setup: The video depicts winter in the year 2079. We should expect to see bleak, snow covered imagery, instead, we are presented with a hip pool party complete with bikinied booty, ample breasts, hard abs and six packs. Because, ya know, global warming has eliminated winter!
The campaign is set up to ask the following question "Where do you stand on the use of important issues as advertising gags? Should advertisers be allowed to make fun of critical issues like global warming for the sake of quirky, high profile ad campaigns? Some people see laughter as good medicine in the face of a crisis. Others prefer any sort of humour over advertising drudgery. And then there are people who believe these issues are just too important and that laughing trivializes them, adding to the problem."
The campaign is by Go Shout, an Australian social network that allows users to create a campaign for any issue they feel passionate about.People can then vote using sms, giving their opinion about the subject. The campaign results will be presented after the closing date to the person or group with authority to create the change. Currently, sms voting is only in Australia but they are opening up the online voting for the rest of the world soon.
