Global Opportunity Explorer is a new tool that encourages entrepreneurs and business owners to contribute to socially beneficial causes. The tool lays out various causes within 10 categories and aims to re-map the ways companies perceive social inequalities, like world hunger, lack of access to clean water and gender equality – as a potential market instead of as a risk.
The tool was developed after realizing the reach, both monetary and social, that investors and entrepreneurs have within developing regions. The tool, which took five years to develop, is part of The United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) which aim to make the world a better place by 2030.
The tool is separated into 10 business sectors, and pairs each sector with an SDG that investors and entrepreneurs can contribute to. The Global Opportunity Explorer is another example of tools that are holding businesses accountable by encouraging them to pursue equality and sustainability.
