1 Giant Leap is a beautiful collaborative art project spanning the entire globe. The creators are Jamie Catto and Duncan Bridgeman and what they have accomplished is beyond remarkable. These two men noticed that there are common threads or streams of consciousness that permeate societies and communities all over the world. No matter how ‘unrelated’ our societies may seem, we all experience love, sex, fear, anger, loneliness, and God, in different forms and in common forms.

These two artists decided they wanted to document and create music to bring these global consciousnesses together. They created a track of music and traveled the world finding artists to contribute to the track. Each Song they create has on average 12-20 artists contributing to it. They also film the entire journey making videos for the music as well; they are 12 songs and 12 videos strong.

How did I hear about them? They emailed me on MySpace. They were able to track that I am an Alanis Morrisette fan and since she is one of the many artist who have contributed vocals to their tracks, they thought I might be interested in hearing it. The song she sings in is called ‘Arrival’ and it is simply amazing. You can hear it and other MP3’s on their MySpace page

Their efforts have brought other amazing artists and thinkers together such as Neale Donald Walsh, Ram Dass, Noam Chomsky, Susan Saradon and KD Lang to name a couple. The 1 Giant Leap project is now a TV series called ‘What About Me?’ I hope they inspire you as much as they have me!
