The Glass Sausage and Bubblegum Lamp may look delicious, but despite being modeled after tasty food and treats, they are clearly inedible. Nevertheless, that doesn't affect how they look. This is due in large part to an artistic experiment Katja Pettersson conducted when invited to participate in the Glass Elephant exhibition. She asks the question, "Can you sense a taste by seeing a form?" These two sculptures would insist that people can.
Since the "directive for the show was to use glass as muse while exploring the unique outcomes that can occur when contrasts come together," according to Fast Co. Design, the Glass Sausage and Bubblegum Lamp are two perfect creations when put in this context. The contrast between material and form is vast and thought-provoking.
