Basketball and Bauhaus are two words used to describe the Givenchy Fall 2014 Menswear Collection, and with Riccardo Tisci as its creative director, you can expect the boarders of the schoolyard fence to be taken down.
After the print-heady onslaught of Spring 2014, Tisci tones down the graphics and tuned up his tailoring, showing baggy trousers traced with basketball court marking and long, slim coats cut in velvet or glossy leather. Thick athletic stripes adorn the trim of pockets and hemlines, while the overall look adopts an urban-street-meets-haute-couture feel.
For instance, we see long overcoats fall just below the knee paired with slouchy leather pants balanced with slim cut tops. The shoes are also a direct reference to the hoop sport, adding a flat, laid-back vibe to the overall appearance.
