Hopworks Urban Brewery has added Gigbit IPA beer to its roster of beers--beers with names like Survival Stout, Crosstown Pale and Sawquatch Strong Ale. Gigbit IPA (India Pale Ale) is a new designer brew intended to help lure Google's fiber project to Portland, Oregon.

More than 1,100 communities have applied to be the test market for Google's ultra high-speed open platform broadband. Once Google picks a location it will build a fiber-optic network to serve from 50,000 up to 500,000 people at speeds 100 times faster than typical broadband. Google promises to make its choices by end of 2010.
