In what is a win/win for everyone involved, the Gallopalooza event, which started in 2004, is a huge hit.

Gallopalooza is the presentation of large, life-sized fiberglass horses painted by mostly local artists in the general Louisville, KY area.

Each horse is sponsored by local Louisville businesses, and are placed strategically around the city during Derby season.

Those artists participating in painting the horses receive a commission between $1,000-$1,500, while those winning for the best horses win even more cash.

A number of charities also greatly benefit from the initiative, as hundreds of thousands of dollars are raised and distributed. Stats for Painted Derby Horses Trending: Older & Chilly
