'9 hours' situated in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto, is a sci-fi inspired minimalist space designed by the renowned Fumi Shibata. The building is 9 stories tall with 125 pods, complete with amenities such as locker rooms, showers and a lounge.
The entire design concept of the hotel is spacious, immaculately clean and monochrome. The main attraction of '9 hours' is their capsules for guests to sleep in -- and the fact that you only need to spend 9 hours at the hotel. The hotel encourages guests to take one hour to get ready for bed, seven hours to sleep, one hour to get up, wash and dress yourself.
Contrary to what you may visualize what sleeping in an enclosed space would be like, the sleeping pod is designed through incorporating soft, subtle curves that align with your body to promote the best quality of sleep and comfort. In addition, there is a Sleep Ambient Control System inside each capsule to help you sleep as comfortably as possible, supporting and integrating your sleeping patterns with adjustable lights.
