Carlo Ratti Associati teamed up with Cassina to create three design prototypes that depict the future of furniture. These digitally fabricated prototypes will be shown as part of the ‘ERASMUS EFFECT’ exhibition. Carlo Ratti states there have been many explorations in the world of digitally fabricated furniture over the past recent years, ranging from 3D printing to laser cutting.

This is the first time digital fabrication enters the mainstream production process, a true instance of what people have started to call the 'Third Industrial Revolution.' The idea behind each furniture design is to create adaptable and flexible designs that respond to many changing needs.

These furniture prototypes demonstrate the impact of tech and digital devices on our everyday lives and each piece helps us to see into the near future of furniture development.
