This year, The Hive set out to create a fun advent calendar that's unlike a lot of them out there, since it promises "zero religion and no chocolate." For each day during the month of December, there's a small box that can be opened containing sets of seemingly random objects like pipes and polka dots.

Aptly named the 'Invent Calendar,' this clever countdown to Christmas is sure to keep you guessing until Christmas Day. With more objects collected each day, you'll probably have quite the pile at the end of it. Closer to Christmas Eve, you'll likely have a better idea of how all of the small objects fit together and what sort of invention they'll come together to create. Rather than being instantly gratifying, this advent calendar makes you wait until the very last day for the big reveal.
