 With recent epidemics in food, freshness is becoming more important than ever before. Accordingly, a new technology places a chip on packaged foods that lets you be certain of its freshness.  In France, Monoprix released Superior Braised Ham Slices under the Monoprix Gourmet brand that promises to clearly and easily show how fresh the product is. Monoprix Gourmet retails Jambon Cuit Supérieur Braisé Découenné et Dégraissé, a pack of four slices of superior braised ham without rind. An innovative Puce Fraîcheur Fresh-Check chip on the package shows if the product can be consumed; when its centre turns black, the product is not suitable for eating. A Jambon Cuit Supérieur Issu de Porc Fermier, farm ham is also available with the same package, no rind and skimmed.
This type of indicator in the packaging is very visual and easy to use, and presents a different and innovative way to indicate the freshness of a product.
