14 year old Lucas Cruikshank plays Fred, a 6-year-old with anger management issues and an alcoholic mom who’s not supposed to be using her video camera, to post videos. Fred’s high pitched voice and manic action is achieved when Cruickshank speeds up the video in the editing.
UPDATE (December 2008): Fred has received more than 500 million video views and is the #1 most subscribed to channel on YouTube.
Kids absolutely love Fred… parents, not so much.
Fred is so big that he’s been co-opted by Zip-it Mobile to create commercials for their product in character which you can check out here. Also take a look at his YouTube channel.
Fred is a boy with a prepubescent voice in a series of fictonal videos about a six-year-old with "temper problems" who lives with his alcoholic mother. His father is in jail. He is in love with a girl named Judy who currently hates him, thinks he is weird, and is currently taken by a boy named Kevin, who is Fred`s bully. Cruikshank's videos have gotten millions of views since put on Youtube. Production of the series features a sped-up effect that makes Cruikshank's voice sound very high and fast. Two to four minute-long webisodes of the show are featured on YouTube, where Cruikshank's Youtube channel is the fourth most-subscribed-to channel on the website, with some episodes receiving 4-5 million views.[4] Episodes are produced in Cruikshank's hometown of Columbus, Nebraska
