Baldwin, the piano brand in the Gibson family (think guitars), has introduced their Exotic Collection. The pianos in this collection are brilliantly colored with nontraditional plates, keys, and lids. There is the purple marble finish reminiscent of Liberace, the bold black and white zebra-inspired design, and the groovy, tie dye piano.
Implications - Even something as classic as the piano is getting overhauled and revamped. Why the sudden demand in funky, nontraditional pianos? It seems like consumers are getting bored with the day-to-day and the always predictable. Bright colors and funky designs applied to ordinary or traditionally simple items can bring a resurgence of interest into an otherwise forgotten product.
