Lazy Mom Food Still Life Photography Merges Real and Fake Elements

This series of food still life photography is quite unlike the bowls of fruit you might be accustomed to. Lazy Mom is a 'delicious zine' by New York artists Phyllis Ma and Josie Keefe viewable on Tumblr.

The whimsical shots play with food using colorful backdrops and unusual compositions. Between pineapple slices separated with bills and interesting use of gherkins, the stills have a playful quality to them that is quite extraordinary compared to standard food porn and latte posts on Instagram. The window dresser and prop stylist shoot their food still life photography "in pursuit of the transcendent through the mundane."

Using commonplace items manipulated to combine fake and real elements in a new landscape, the artists hope to expand this project into a coffee table book. Stats for Manipulated Food Stills Trending: Older & Buzzing
