This Surreal Foam Furniture Holds onto Dishes in an Unusual Way

This unusual piece of foam furniture by Studio Dewi van de Klomp stores dinnerware a little differently than the average cabinet.

The unit mimics the shape of a traditional standing wood cabinet, but it is made entirely out of rubber foam, which allows it to take whimsical shapes. The legs of the cabinet bend and bow, but they are sturdy enough to stand. As well, the cabinet has no cupboards and instead holds onto mugs and plates by having them slot into the foam.

This surreal foam furniture piece doesn't seem like it should be able to stand up at all, let alone hold items securely, but it does manage to do so. The soft structure of foam is ideal for keeping items secure, but this design brings a playful and unexpected new twist to the material.
