Dazed & Confused Cover Asks You to Smile

While Bianca reported on fashion magazines capitalizing on the credit crunch and the spiraling economy with money-saving and budgeting headlines, the December 2008 issue of Dazed & Confused laughs at the financial crisis and asks you to join them as well.

And since it’s an unwritten rule that professional models aren’t supposed to laugh or smile (it’s not artistic that way!), Dazed & Confused offers the next best thing: photographer Daniel Sannwald captured models Kate Somers and Nathan Sutherland with their faces painted with big smiles, Joker-style!

The cover comes with the headline, “Smile! What Crisis? Fashion’s New Optimism.” The whole issue is dedicated to the fresh blood on the fashion scene: new photographers, new designers and new artists.

I actually think that the financial crisis is having a positive effect on the fashion industry. We are seeing many creative and frugal designs and ad campaigns thanks to this crunch.
