Deciding to change his career path was a tough decision for John, especially with a promising future as an account executive for a video production service in Manhattan, but he gave that up as well as some of his wildest dreams to become something more: a stay-at-home dad.
John’s wife, Lisa, held a successful position as a Creative Director for a large advertising agency when their first child was born. It would have devastated her to leave her job and stay at home all day, so John decided to become the family’s homemaker. He overcame the mid-90s stigma of being a stay-at-home dad and resolved his own doubts about his abilities and in time became very comfortable with his decision.
Lisa says John runs the family like a small business, making his kids’ lunches, taking them to school, doing the laundry and getting groceries. He even manages the family finances!
It’s the choices you make that define you. John’s choice to be a stay-at-home dad made him a family businessman and an amazing source of inspiration to his wife Lisa.
