The banana is probably the most popular and sexual fruit out there. With this in mind, Fallen Fruit has put on an exhibition called ‘United Fruit’ at the Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE).

The exhibition explores the corrupt nature of a Chiquita banana company in Columbia, South America.

If you’re in the L.A. area this summer and love fruit, you should check out the social, political and pop history of bananas at LACE. The exhibition will be running from now until September 27th, 2009.

I'm reminded of a jingle we used to sing during recess way back in the day about Chiquita Banana... I'm Chiquita Banana, and I'm here to say, if you want to fool your teacher here's an easy way, just peel a banana and throw it on the floor, then watch your teacher go flying out the door...

There is always a dark side to mega cooperations like Chiquita. I just read an article in Forbes that their profit jumped 46% the second quarter of 2009. Of course that makes sense when most families are buying more of this cheap fruit to make it on a limited budget.
