Rather than keeping a calendar with all of the birthdates for friends and family members, Facebook birthday tracker does a pretty good job of making sure that its users don't forget an important date. However, with a new feature called 'Speed Text,' Facebook is making it even easier to wish loved ones well on their day of birth.

With Speed Text, users are notified of a Facebook friend's birthday via SMS, with the option to automatically send them a greeting simply by pressing the number "1" on the keyboard. Once this prompt is carried out, a simple "Happy Birthday" will be automatically be posted to the friend's wall.

From services to outsource break-ups to apps that will automatically text a girlfriend or boyfriend, technology is being employed as a tool for carrying out a range of ordinary, expected and uncomfortable social tasks with more ease.
