Strange Still-Life Snapshots

Fabrice Fouillet Shoots Boldly Patterned Objects and Backdrops

Fabrice Fouillet is known for the dramatically stunning product editorials he has shot for a slew of major magazines and creative studio Le Creative Sweatshop.

The Paris-based photographer has a keen attention to detail and a mastery of unique lighting effects and turns traditional product shots on their head by blurring the lines between commercial and art.

His still-life photography often pairs boldly patterned everyday objects against backdrops with equally interesting colors and textures. Traditionally, most photos focusing on a specific object are shot against relatively plain backgrounds to allow the focal point to really pop. However, Fabrice Fouillet shoots in such a way that the backgrounds add interest to the focus of the shot, without overpowering or distracting from it. The placement of his objects is also particularly interesting, calling attention to the appearance of both the featured object and its surroundings.
