Avian-Mimicking Sterotypes

Go Tweet Yourself by Everyguyed Takes on 16 Typical Stereotypes

— June 2, 2011 — Social Media
Online fashion and culture guru EveryGuyed is back with a new illustrative series called Go Tweet Yourself: 16 Stereotypes Twitterized. In this collection, EveryGuyed pokes fun at Twitter and 16 stereotypes viewers would either love or hate.

The original Twitter bird is pretty bland and EveryGuyed decided it was time to give him a personality. The stereotypes include ones like: The Jock, The Rapper, The Emo, The 80s Work Out, The Transsexual and much more.

Each of the characters can be printed out so you can cut and color them in any way you please. You can even upload your stereotypical Twitter-self to the EveryGuyed Facebook Fan Page to win a prize. I am hoping they take upon some more hilarious stereotypes in the near future.

Implications - As social media usage becomes more established and normalized, so will commercials, print ads and campaigns that mock or mimic the kind of behavior exhibited on these platforms. Companies that target social media heavy consumers also increase their chances of getting these consumers to engage with their social media outlets, especially if they run contests open to users active on the outlets.
Trend Themes
1. Social Media Parody - Companies can create parodies of popular social media platforms and behavior to engage with social media heavy consumers and increase brand interaction.
2. Print Ads Mocking Social Media - Advertisements and campaigns that mock or mimic social media behavior can become more prevalent as social media usage continues to normalize.
3. Contests on Social Media Outlets - Running contests open to users active on social media platforms can help companies target social media heavy consumers and encourage increased engagement with their brand.
Industry Implications
1. Fashion - Fashion brands can create print ads or campaigns that parody social media behavior to engage with their target audience and increase brand interaction.
2. Marketing - Marketing agencies can help brands create print advertisements or campaigns that mock or mimic social media platforms and behavior to attract social media heavy consumers and increase brand engagement.
3. Advertising - Companies in the advertising industry can create contests on social media outlets to target social media heavy consumers and encourage increased interaction with their brand.
