The Enlightenment Series by Boris, a Hong Kong-based company born of Swedish ex-pats, explores the idea of sustainability and religion in terms of design. Since at its very core, religion is about believing in something and sustainability feeds off eco-friendly beliefs, these two concepts complement each other nicely. According to the designers, "What are we actually devoted to? Consumerism or sustainism? How important are the objects around us from a spiritual perspective and can we as designers fabricate spiritual products?"
The collection also touches on the designers' own situations. Exposed to a completely different culture from their own, the Enlightenment Series by Boris represents notions of multi-ethnicity. Each of the four pieces in the collection blend different belief systems into one while boasting sustainable materials.
