The Envirotouch is the latest smart energy-saving switch to infiltrate the market. It relies on a roster of one-touch timer buttons that work to cut power to appliances once they are no longer used. The Envirotouch works to simplify the traditional process of using a circular timer switch that acts as a middleman between the plug and wall socket.
Envirotouch programs the outlet to switch off after a period of time determined by the user. Users can choose time periods of 15, 45, 60 or 120 minutes after which the switch will automatically be disabled It can be installed in new outlets but can also be retrofitted to existing ones.
The Envirotouch may be an elegant and simple gadget but that doesn't mean you can necessarily install it yourself -- it must be installed by a qualified electrician.
