Inspiring Hats in Emirates Melbourne Cup Day 2009 Carnival

Ladies attending Emirates Melbourne Cup Day seemed more interested in hats and fashion than horse racing. With their spectacular hat designs and dresses, ladies competed with each other in the chic and stylish department.

In this event, hats took an important place as accessories and were shown off widely. This can be a good example of how hats can be daily accessories since they look really chic and upscale. Style does not have to be as bold as some pieces shown in these pictures, but a little more distinct than a moderate hair band could highlight the whole outfit.

Apart from the hats, dresses also caught my attention. As these ladies demonstrate, there are plenty variations of beautiful origami-like dresses.  Designers aspired to create bold, elegant and glamorous dresses by using pleats, cut-outs and sculptural structures either as a detail or all over the dress.
