A Dutch company, S. Lövenstein BV, found a solution by mixing floor materials with glow in the dark particles. The luminescent gravel can be spread into shapes and due to its color, it can be used in light and in dark spaces.

This is by far a more ecologic and convenient solution to classic wired and energy wasting lighting installations.
