Every spring, I plant a few trees on the acreage where I live. Watering them through the summer gets to be quite a chore so I started looking for a way to do it less often. To the rescue came an Australian-made solution called an Eco-Bag. It’s great! An American company has come up with a similar product called a Tree-Gator. Just fill the bags with water and walk away. The water slowly seeps from the bag into the ground, keeping the soil for newly-planted or drought-threatened trees moist. The bags block weed growth, reduce evaporation and encourage earth worms. They prevent water waste and help to green the environment.  The Eco Bag water saving device is an automatic watering system consisting of a plastic container which drips water into the roots of a shrub or tree over a long period. The bag holds 20 litres of water and its capillary wick will drip one litre of water every 24 hours.heavy duty UV-treated plastic, the bag gives coverage of half a square meter around the base of the plant.
