Crochet Monster has a view of veggies that’s a bit different from what might be considered normal. While many gardeners are eagerly looking over seed catalogs and anticipating spring, artist Regina Rioux Gonzales is arming her colorful fruits and veggies with weapons. The crocheted garden inhabitants are presented in seed packet format with basic information distantly similar to that of real seed envelopes.

There’s more of course. You didn’t really think that veggies would be the limits of creative genius, did you? There are one-eyed fruits and tomatoes from the edge—complete with biographies.

Crochet Monster creator is Los Angeles’ Regina Rioux Gonzalez, an exhibiting artist who loves fairytales. She brings a sense of humor to her work which is largely expressed in knit, felted and improvised object forms. Patterns available from her blog site include ‘slice-o-bacon,’ and the ‘chicken beanie.’ You can also download the ‘Inebriated Bunny Hat’ and ‘Fried Egg Cuffs’ patterns for free!

Narrowly escaped from the corn fields of Nebraska after trying to provoke an uprising among the corn population against their oppressor, the evil farmer, which failed despite careful planning and execution. Having fled the silo with nothing but the husk on his back, Killer Korn fled to Los Angeles, California in search of other vegetables who might share his Vegetable Liberation Theology.
