The DuCCT robot is an ingenious robot, developed by a group of scientists at UN San Diego's Jacob School of Engineering, that is capable of moving by taking advantage of an extending and contracting series of tubes, each of which is connected to a cable.
The biggest advantage with the DuCCT robot is that it is completely untethered, meaning that all of its electronic components, battery parts, actuators and other high-tech elements are all completely sealed well within its tubes. This helps keep the materials safe from damage or contamination, while retaining the incomparable convenience of having a totally untethered system.
Ultimately, the DuCCT robot's flexible, untethered systems means it could be used for a wide variety of applications in a number of industrial settings.
