The new DSG Gearbox from Volkswagon is aimed to lessen the amount of fuel used by the company's vehicles. With so many people becoming more and more conscious about the environment, efforts by car companies to reduce emissions should put them ahead of competitors.
The DSG Gearbox should be on the 2015 Passat, but nothing is guaranteed as of yet. The goal for the company is to "increase fuel economy throughout the company’s fleet an additional 20 percent by 2020," according to chairman Martin Winterkorn as seen on DesignBoom. This is a strong goal from any car company, but the question is whether or not this initiative will be a success. Hopefully the new gearbox will help.
