Droppie is an ingenious app that aims to use beacon technology to create a social photo app that rivals Instagram and Facebook. The newly developed Droppie app is a project of Marek Sandor and Martin Herman, two Slovakian programmers hoping to change the way we think about sharing photos online.

The Droppie app allows users to take a smartphone photo, add a caption and leave it at that geotagged location for someone else to stumble upon. When another user walks by that same spot, they receive a notification of the original dropped photo and is able to respond with a photo of their own.

Droppie may seem like a simple concept, but it could change the way we think about the properties of digital images. The Droppie app is currently available for iOS, while the developers are working on expanding the service to Android users.
