With a growing number of people in cities choosing to forgo cars in favor of alternative forms of transportation, driver assistance systems that give drivers an extra pair of eyes to look out for pedestrians and cyclists are becoming more valuable than ever.

Bosch recently introduced a safety system that it claims will be able to reduce collisions in the city by up to 58%. What makes this system successful is a built-in camera that captures information about the vehicle, analyzed at a rate of 10 times per second. If the driver assistance system picks up on something (like a pedestrian or cyclist) that has quickly come in the way of the car, the system automatically kicks in to immediately stop the car or assist the driver in preventing an accident.
