Plain and simple: Doughnuts are delicious, whether you use the formal ‘doughnuts’ or the informal ‘donuts.’ These deep-fried, frosting-topped, sprinkletastic, jelly and cream-filled treats are undeniably one of the most ubiquitous all-day snacks around.

The humble doughnut has been used to encourage voter turnout, wiggle out of traffic tickets and welcome in our new president. Who knew a bit of sweet fried dough could be so influential?
