It is a beautiful and multi-hued irony that sees the latest trend in hair having found its inspiration in the recession. Ombre hair refers to an 'Ombre' wash of colour that ranges from light to dark or vice versa, somewhat like a structured tie-dye for your hair. Fashion Weeks in 2010 saw ombre clothing on all the catwalks at fashion week, and the look has been translated into 2013 with beauty trends taking up the trend; which no pun intended, doesn't look like it will be fading out anytime soon.
The delicious irony of the Ombre hairstyle is that it is simply another way of saying 'Your roots are showing'. 10 years ago, frosted tips went out of fashion, and are now, in a sense, coming back in a bigger way. Now, a look that announced to the world you were trying to save money can and will cost hundreds of dollars to perfect in a salon. Hair care company L'Oreal, has stepped up to the plate, or pallet so to speak and come out with an at-home procedure for dip-dyed locks. And with the profusion of People magazine articles and star makeovers, the profit margin for this trend certainly looks as though it will be making the ombre journey from gold to platinum.
