These amazing illustrations by Yiying Lu are not just beautiful to look at, but it also serves a purpose. Hidden within each hand-drawn painting is a QR code, which stands for "Quick Response Code."

They are used by many retailers and marketers nowadays; the way it works is by scanning a smartphone over top of the code it contains information such as a company's phone number or product information. So, instead of taking a flyer or business card, you can easily retrieve the information directly off your phone instead. It is quite convenient as you don't have to worry about losing any loose piece of paper or an important phone number.

Yiying Lu has found a creative way to incorporate the codes into artwork, making them almost invisible by nicely blending them in. With QR codes becoming more and more predominant, marketers will be looking for creative ways to incorporate them into their advertising, and Lu's work is a great example of the endless possibilities.
