Comme des Garçons Spring 2014 is Defined by Sculptural Suit

The Comme des Garçons Spring 2014 get-ups are sculptural and robust, complete with twisting garments and cascading drapery. Each piece is different than the next, topped with black lips and eccentric headpieces. The entire collection is the vogue silhouette at its finest. Bordering on the futuristic, these pieces are reminiscent of the Victorian hourglass figure outlined in thick velvet, large peepholes, thick wools and other sculptural materials.

First, we see two-dimensional craftwork with these materials, then the show takes an epic turn into the three-dimensional, working with structural materials that create an industrial, yet shapely look. The most imaginative quality about this collection is how the designer maintains feminine figures with the toughest, most complex set of materials. Color contrasts of black and white emphasize these qualities by creating tension, along with architectural lines against lightly shaded materials.
