Researchers at Stanford University have created an incredible, futuristic DeLorean car just in time for Back to the Future day.

It can't actually travel backwards or forwards in time, but it can travel sideways, in swirls and in pretty much any other direction in the present moment. The Stanford DeLorean car is a self-driving vehicle designed to study the behavior of typical cars in dangerous situations. The DeLorean car can be put through stunt-like drifts and skids much more extreme than anything that would be attempted with a human in the driver's seat.

Back to the Future Day has evolved into a day of celebration of all of humanity's high-tech accomplishments and the many ways that we have met and surpassed the past's expectations of the future.
