Delayed Apologies - Maradonna Apologises for Hand of God (Almost)

As reported in the World’s press today, Diego Maradona has made his first ever apology for his infamous “Hand of God” goal that cost England the 1986 World Cup. Well he almost apologises and it is 21 years late - but better late than never. The referee decided that Maradona’s first goal - in the match between England & Mexico - was deemed a legitimate header. Subsequent television replays clearly showed it was a hand ball. In an interview with the UK’s Sun Newspaper Maradona stated that if it was possible to go back in time and ““If I could apologise and go back and change history I would.” But he then added “But the goal is still a goal. Argentina became world champions and I was the best player in the world.” I wonder if this will effect visits to the ‘Hand of God’ Church I added to Trend Hunter last year. Via: thesun |
