Dara Torres is a 41-year-old Olympic hopeful trying to make the US team for the Beijing Olympics. The fact that she's about two decades older than the average competitor doesn't faze her. She's been persisting to qualify for her fifth Olympic appearance since her first entry at 17.
"I'd like people to say, 'This is fantastic that a middle-aged woman can be doing this -- who's a mom,'" Torres said.
Age doesn't seem to have affected her; not only are her washboard abs still rippling on her near 6 ft tall frame, but she's swimming stronger than ever too.
Torres is gaining honorable mentions in the media; ABC World News even named her "Person of the Week."
The photo gallery shows her enviably buff body, including still from a photo shoot in Maxim magazine.
