It’s no secret that in the past few years, the Human Resources staff of many companies have been snooping the public profiles of potential candidates. It’s an easy way to narrow down these candidates based on a number of unsavory characteristics, many of which are readily found on a public profile. Dirk Dijksma has aggregated some of the most popular sites used in this endeavor--Facebook, MySpace, Google, Bebo, LinkedIn, Google Blog Search, Xing, Google Images, and Google Video--making cybersnooping that much easier. I know for a fact that an editor I previously interned with searched all of the interns’ Facebook and MySpace profiles prior to the interview process. Wonder who else does it?
