Customize a Paper Craft Robot and Meet Shin Tanaka Edit

Giant Robot magazine and Japanese paper toy creator, Shin Tanaka, have launched a unique contest where you can win a trip to Los Angeles, meet the designer himself and also be featured in April’s Interactive Paper Art Show.

Budding designers can enter the contest at GiantRobotShin.com where they can download the robot template, customize it with any design using paint, Photoshop, crayons or whatever takes their fancy. Entries are then uploaded to the site.

In addition to being flown to LA for the art show to meet Shin Tanaka, the grand prize winner will have their winning entry distributed at the art show AND will also receive a $500 cash prize.

The contest is the latest stage of the ongoing collaboration between Scion, Giant Robot and Shin Tanaka which includes a series of 3 Tanaka templates to be found in 3 consecutive issues of Giant Robot magazine. Each one forms an independent paper robot, or they can be put together to create the “4-in-1 mega robot.”
