If you're looking for a fun cupcake baking recipe to throw together this season, these dainty cotton candy cakes are both colorful and sweet tasting. These cupcakes take inspiration from the sweet cotton treat readily available at festivals and fairs.

While cotton candy is a scrumptious sweet treat, all the sugar found inside does reek a bit of havoc on your teeth. This recipe retains the same sweet and fruity flavors as the traditional candy tailored to a lighter and more satisfying dessert. The cupcakes are standard white vanilla made from butter, sugar, eggs and milk. Once the cakes have cooked, they're topped with pink and blue icing made from butter, powdered surgar and cotton candy flavoring covered in white sprinkles. This recipe even goes as far as to add mini cotton candies as decoration on top.
