De’Longhi Caffé Raro, to be sold for £50 a cup at Peter Jones, is made from a blend of the rare Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans and the Kopi Luwak bean. The Kopi Luwak bean which after being digested by palm civits - a cat like animal - is collected by plantation workers in Indonesia and sold as Luwak coffee. As per Marie Claire “These two incredibly rare coffees have never been blended before and the result is a very rich and full tasting espresso. These coffees have been slowly hand roasted for around 12 minutes to ensure that we maximise the potential of each coffee. The final roast colour is quite dark to ensure that the espresso is perfect for a smooth latte or cappuccino.” At £50 a cup that’s pretty costly cat-droppings Via: marieclaire |
