While the future of smart homes might be voice control commands, Memodo is a tech brand offering an alternative way using totem figurines to create a tech-controlled home environment. The concept utilizes small figurines that signal different actions in the home that are placed inside a reader-bowl. From there, the bowl is able to identify the totem and act on the command. The design scheme provides a much more personal way to control a smart home.

The Memodo features two functional parts, with the first being the reader-bowl. The unit is a dish that features three different cameras that can read and identify objects placed inside. The second feature are the totems that can be any small object from keys to change and toys. The reader-bowl can be programmed to recognize certain totems and set out different actions. For example, placing keys inside the bowl could signal that the house should be locked.
