The Lilypad is a futuristic floating city concept designed to house up to 50,000 climate refugees in case of severe rising sea levels due to global warming. While Trend Hunter has featured the Lilypad City before, we have more images to update you with.

Created by award-winning architect Vincent Callebaut, the Lilypad is designed to take advantage of today’s green technologies, including generating power from the sun, wind and water, and to produce zero emissions from its residents.

Today, we are offering a few more fascinating photos of this futuristic “Noah’s Ark” to build off last year’s report.

Each of these floating cities are designed to hold approximately around 50,000 people. A mixed terrain man-made landscape, provided by an artificial lagoon and three ridges, create a diverse environment for the inhabitants. Each Lilypad is intended to be either near a coast, or floating around in the ocean, traveling from the equator to the northern seas, according to where the gulf stream takes it. (inhabitat)
