Company logos are full of signals designed to appeal to shoppers' preferences and values. When you see a company logo, certain symbols that accompany it help you to identify and associate a brand with a specific purpose or group of people.

For instance, when you see a gluten-free symbol, fair-trade or kosher symbol they all remind you of a specific group of people as well as the brand that provides the product.

Soon, shoppers will be able to look for a new signal, which is a small, circular symbol indicating that women own the company behind the product. The new logo is the work of two nonprofits and Walmart, which will sell products from lingerie to salsa bearing the new stamp.
