The ‘Hotello’ is a compact office and hotel room in one that has a quirky feature—the entire thing packs up and you can wheel it about. This novel portable hotel and office concept was dreamed up by Antonio Scarponi and Roberto Deluca for the Swiss firm Daskonzept; the portable hub was designed as a solution to overpopulation in large cities.
The structure contains metal bars that surround it, much like a shower curtain, which can be closed for privacy. The designers say they wanted their creation to “temporarily inhabit the empty lofts of the contemporary city,” and assure the audience that the design “contains all the necessary elements needed to work and rest” on their site. The best bit is when you’re done using the ‘Hotello,’ you can fold it up like a trunk and be on your way.
